Star Sydney will increase capacity to 10,000

Star Entertainment Group announced that in light of the latest government update, the casino capacity levels can be increased to 10,000 users.

The Australian casino operator runs Star Sydney, New South Wales, as well as The Star Gold Coast and Treasury Brisbane, Queensland.

Both state governments announced significant relaxation of restrictions on COVID-19, and new cases in the country are now limited to hotel quarantines.

The decision means Star Sydney will be able to increase its maximum capacity from 1,800 to 10,000 guests from December 7th.

It also includes the removal of the cap with 300 visitors to the surface, while customers will now be able to benefit from the "one person per two square meters" principle, which was previously one person per four square meters.

However, the rules of social distancing between slot machines will remain valid.

In the meantime, restrictions on the use of gaming tables and slot machines will be lifted in Star Gold Coast and Treasury Brisbane, and the number of people allowed at the gaming table has increased from four to seven.

Queensland adopted the principle of "one person for two square meters" on December 1. On the same day, the state reopened the border to residents of Greater Sydney and Victoria.

“Relaxing operating restrictions on all three properties will allow us to welcome back additional employees as well as more of our members and visitors in a safe and entertaining environment,” said Star.
