BCLC is certified Level 4 for Excellence in Responsible Gambling

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has received Level 4 certification from the World Lottery Association (WLA) for excellence in responsible gambling.

Level 4 is the highest level of certification awarded by the Independent Assessment Panel (IAP) WLA under the Responsible Gambling Framework and has been awarded to the BCLC for the fourth time in a row.

BCLC is one of 13 North American lottery jurisdictions to be certified.

In its assessment report, the IAP stated that the BCLC Player Education program "by far meets the highest standards" in the industry.

The report also points to PlayNow.com, the company's online gambling site, noting that its features are "well integrated into the overall perspective of a global approach to health."

Lottery's Player Health Programs Voluntary Self-Exclusion and GameSense have been found to exceed industry standards as well as ongoing research initiatives. It's committed to achieving the highest standards of care through evidence-based player health programs.

"BCLC is committed to the continuous evaluation and improvement of our player health programs," said BCLC director of social affairs and vice president of Player Experience, Peter ter Weeme.

"Obtaining a Level 4 certification is an important confirmation of our strategy as we pursue our goal of not harming anyone with BCLC gambling."
